METS SWEEP SEASON SERIES FROM ROCKIES!

Verrett Logan pitched an amazin' game in Colorado. Under all kinds of pressure (taking Harvey's spot/ pennant race/ pitching at Coors Field) Logan impressed all with a clutch performance.

Logan pitched 8 innings (he could've,should've pitched 9) allowing only 4 hits and one run. He struck out 8 in a 93 pitch effort, his highest pitch count at any level this season.

The right hander made his major league debut with the Texas Rangers earlier this season and pitched four times in relief. He was picked up by New York on waivers and pitched well in seven appearances out of the pen.

Overall Verrett has allowed 2 runs over 21and a third innings for New York, good for a 0.84 ERA.

This was Logan's first MLB start and first MLB win.

After the Rockies, down by a run already in the first inning, led off the game with two consecutive singles I feared this would turn into a nightmare of a game for Verrett. Instead it was Colorado's pitcher David Hales nightmare as he broke the Rockies pitching record for wild pitches in a single game with four. Three were in the same horrific inning, two with Mets on third base which led to runs.

Michael Conforto had three hits and has been able to stick with the team due to Duda's trip to the D.L.
The rookie also threw out an idiotic Colorado baserunner trying to advance 1st to 3rd.

Yoenis Cespedes made some nice plays in the field, one somersaulting short hop stop in the gap that might possibly have gone for an inside the park home run if it got by him.

New York outscored Colorado 33-9 in the three game set accumulating a total of 45 hits along the way. This was also the first time ever New York has swept a series in Colorado.

New York has now won 11 in a row from the Rockies, the longest winning streak against one opponent since 1986/87 when they beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 15 times in a row.

The Mets are 11 games over .500 at 67-56.

The Mets magic number is 35.
