It's time again to count the blessings of the past week. I am linking, as usual, with Rebecca Jo at Knit by God's Hand and Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for Thankful Thursday and Friday's Fave Five.
Southern Utah Getaway Weekend - I have already posted about our Mother's Day weekend trip to St. George, but the trip and our time spent hiking and enjoying the beautiful scenery at Kolob Canyon and Snow Canyon State Park top my list of favorites this week. I am grateful that we had the opportunity to take the trip and make some good memories.
Mother's Day Love - I will admit that Mother's Day is not my favorite holiday. Even now, it brings up a lot of mixed emotions for me that often result in anxiety and depression. Still, I am grateful for those family members who remembered the day with love. I am grateful for the blessings of having two mothers (birth and adoptive) and of being a mother myself.
Postcards - When we travel, we like to send postcards to all ten of our grandchildren, but we have found that postcards are getting harder and harder to find. I have even met some store clerks who didn't know what postcards were! Apparently, people don't mail post cards when they can just text a picture. When we were at Snow Canyon State Park, we discovered a small park bookstore at one of the campgrounds and we were so pleased when we found a variety of postcards there so that each grandchild could have a postcard with a different picture! Our oldest grandson, now 16, collected postcards when he was in elementary school, so we started mailing him cards, and we have just kept the tradition going - only now we write a separate postcard to each grandchild every time we travel. I am grateful that we could find beautiful postcards so we can keep this postcard tradition going.
Feeling Better- if you read my last post about our trip to Southern Utah, you know that our son Josh, who went with us, was dealing with a stomach bug or food poisoning of some kind while we were there. He felt better for a few hours so we could go hiking, but then relapsed to the point that he had to take a couple of days off of work earlier this week. He is feeling better now, is eating normally and is back at work. I am grateful he is better and I am grateful that Charly and I didn't get whatever he had.
Teacher Planning Day - Our school district had one of these last week. It is always nice to have a day to grade, work and plan without students in the classroom. I am grateful for extra time to get ready for the end of the school year.
The Return of Spring...again - Our spring so far has been cool, cloudy, rainy and even snowy. I'm not complaining about that, because we need the moisture, but when the temperatures warmed up enough for Charly and I to take our walk without heavy jackets on, it was lovely.
About two hours after our walk, the clouds rolled back in and we had more rain in the valley and snow in the mountains. I am grateful for spring-like days, but also for needed moisture.
New Haircut -There was nothing like the self-care of a new haircut to make me feel good. I am grateful that I found a stylist who can cut and style my baby-fine hair in a way that I like it.
Thanks for joining me for some end of the week gratitude. Have a good weekend.
